New York Safety Program
New York Safety Program sponsors the Driver Improvement Course that has been approved by the New York State Dept. Of Motor Vehicles for Point Reduction and the Dept. of Insurance for Insurance Reduction in New York State. The NYSP course is a six hour classroom course that uses behavior modification methodology to positively influence attitude and therefore, behavior behind the wheel. Certified instructors, using modern multimedia techniques, will teach you the roles and responsibilities of the individual driver, traffic laws, emergency and defensive driving methods. There are no tests to pass and there is no driving involved. The NYSP course is available Statewide through a network of approved training agencies.
The NY State Division of Criminal Justice Services
The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (www.criminaljustice.ny.gov) is a multi-function criminal justice support agency with a variety of responsibilities, including funding and oversight of probation and community correction programs; law enforcement training; collection and analysis of statewide crime data; maintenance of criminal history information and fingerprint files; administrative oversight of the states DNA databank, in partnership with the New York State Police; administration of federal and state criminal justice funds; support of criminal justice-related agencies across the state; and administration of the state’s Sex Offender Registry.\

The only cost to the survivors is their travel to and from the program.

The GATE program
The GATE program was first developed in 1997 after a need was observed in teaching about the dangers of street gangs in suburban Chicago. As the program developed and conducted research it identified concerns in Elementary School and High School which were not being addressed. At G.A.T.E. America, developers and instructors work tirelessly to develop two new curricula. The first was G.A.T.E. Kids to address issues that were seen surfacing in the Elementary grades. The instructors then developed a comprehensive high school curriculum called R.A.D.I.C.A.L., which addressed those issues old and new in the high school setting. Today the GATE program is being currently available in 3 countries and 19 states nationwide affecting over 1.8 million students.

Labor Relations Information System
LRIS offers a wide range of seminars designed for any individual involved in public safety labor relations. Each year, more than 1,000 people attend our seminars, including chiefs, representatives of labor organizations, personnel and labor relations specialists, attorneys, and rank-and-file law enforcement officers and firefighters.
The Correctional Peace Officers (CPO) Foundation
The Correctional Peace Officers (CPO) Foundation is a national, non-profit charitable organization created in 1984. Its primary function is to preserve and support the surviving families of Correctional Officers who lose their lives in pursuit of their chosen profession of protecting the public from those remanded to correctional custody and supervision in the nation's prisons and jails.
The New York Fraternal Order of Police
The New York Fraternal Order of Police is a fraternal organization consisting of sworn law enforcement officers in the New York State and connected to the national United States organization. It reports a membership of over 325,000 members organized in 2100 local chapters (lodges), organized into local lodges, state lodges, and the national Grand Lodge. The organization attempts to improve the working conditions of law enforcement officers and the safety of those they serve through education, legislation, information, community involvement, and employee representation.

The Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers serves as an inter-agency law enforcement training body for 91 United States government federal law enforcement agencies. The stated mission of FLETC is to "...train those who protect our homeland"

Smith & Wesson Academy

National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund
Founded in 1984, the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund is dedicated to honoring and remembering the service and sacrifice of law enforcement officers in the United States.
A nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization headquartered in Washington, DC, the Memorial Fund built and continues to maintain the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial - the nation’s monument to law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. The Memorial Fund is a principal organizer of the National Police Week observance each May and hosts a Candlelight Vigil at the Memorial each May 13th to honor all fallen officers. In addition, the Fund maintains the largest, most comprehensive database of line-of-duty officer deaths, conducts research into officer fatality trends and issues, and serves as an information clearinghouse.

Online in early 1995, the OU Police Department's website was one of the first twenty police agency websites in the United States and, for many years, the nation's largest police website based on the volume of online safety and security information we provided.
